A Gentle, Effective Approach to Healing Trauma and Emotional Distress

Sometimes we understand intellectually that something is over, yet our bodies, emotions, and nervous systems continue to respond as though the experience is still happening. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help the brain and body process difficult experiences so they no longer carry the same emotional intensity.

ART is particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, grief, childhood wounds, relationship difficulties, phobias, distressing memories, and many of the lingering effects of adverse life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, ART does not require you to share every detail of your story aloud. Instead, we work with the way memories are stored in the brain and nervous system, allowing healing to occur without extensive retelling of painful events.

How Does ART Work?

ART uses a combination of guided eye movements, mindfulness, body awareness, and imagery techniques to help the brain process unresolved experiences. During sessions, you remain fully awake, aware, and in control while we work together to reduce the emotional distress connected to specific memories, beliefs, or experiences.

One of the unique features of ART is a process called Voluntary Image Replacement. While the facts of your experience remain unchanged, the emotional and sensory impact of the memory can shift dramatically. Many clients describe feeling as though the memory is "further away," no longer triggering the same level of fear, shame, anger, or overwhelm.

What Can ART Help With?

ART has been shown to be effective for:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Childhood attachment wounds

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Grief and loss

  • Depression

  • Relationship challenges

  • Performance anxiety

  • Phobias and fears

  • Distressing life events

  • Negative self-beliefs and self-criticism

Why Clients Appreciate ART

Many people seek therapy because they are tired of understanding their struggles intellectually while continuing to feel stuck emotionally. ART helps bridge that gap. Clients often report:

  • Relief from intrusive thoughts and distressing memories

  • Reduced emotional reactivity

  • Greater sense of calm and regulation

  • Increased self-compassion

  • Freedom from longstanding patterns rooted in past experiences

  • Meaningful progress in fewer sessions than expected

Clients have returned after having a session asking me, “What kind of voodoo was that?” Because long-held experiences of pain, anxiety, depression are significantly muted or gone after one session.

My Approach

I am offering ART to people who are working with other therapists, as I am no longer taking on clients of my own. You would come to me for Accelerated Resolution Therapy as a stand alone treatment and continue to see your primary therapist.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I integrate ART within a broader framework that honors your nervous system, attachment history, and inner experience. Healing is never about forcing memories away or "getting over it." Instead, we work collaboratively to help your mind and body process experiences that have remained unresolved, creating space for greater freedom, connection, and resilience.

If you are carrying experiences that continue to affect your present life, ART may offer a path toward relief, healing, and a renewed sense of possibility.
